"Shoes" The Final Step

Shoes Acrylic, Pastel & Charcoal on Canvas by MG Stout

As promised here is the final and completed work.  The last time you saw these shoes, if memory serves me correctly, I recall you being drunk and so the image was fuzzy....or perhaps my camera crapped out on me. Either way, smile if you want to.  Happy Tuesday.

The Last Day of Session II

My first period class and my last period class were each given collaborative assignments.
Group one was given a form.  They were instructed that they would all have to agree on what it was to become. Next they needed to draft a blueprint in their sketch books.  Finally they needed to share the creative work necessary to make their design a reality.  Needless to say the group could NOT agree on what the form should become.  So we divided into two groups - the boys and the girls.

My last period class was tasked with designing and painting a mural.  They could paint anything but, they all had to participate and agree on the subject, design, and workload.

You should all be very impressed.  I know that I was.

Visual Explorers Create Drawing Installations

These emerging artists were each given a roll of video tape to draw with.  They were told that they could use any object they found outside in their drawing installation to add dimension and interest to their creations.  They found all sorts of materials to incorporate into their works.

A crumbly leaf, a stone, and a lovely little flower/weed
This artist found a piece of a balloon that had a great shape.
After all the artists were pleased with their finds they got right to work.

This artist was inspired by one of her silly bands.

Artists discuss their works.
OUTSTANDING JOB GUYS.

Shoes - Step by Step

Step One

Step Two

Step Three

Notice how step three is a wee bit blurry... well that is because you are drunk. (ha ha ha or lol whichever laughter prompt you prefer)  Actually it is fuzzy because my camera crapped out on me.  I'll buy new batteries and post step four tomorrow.  How exciting!

The Twisted Bean

Get Twisted Acrylic Pastel Charcoal by MG Stout
I am soooooo tired of THE mega-coffee chains over priced beverages.  I no longer wish to help the fat-cats of java any wealthier.  I am standing up for the little guy.  I am buying locally.  All my coffee dollars  will be spent at the "Twisted Bean" a new local coffee house in Stafford VA.  Small Businesses of America... I salute you.

Third One Is A Charm

Final of Three Versions - First Aid Water Commission
This one is by far my favorite.  Why?  Well first of all it was created on a very particular page...BP purchased an entire page of the Washington Post... Oops did we do that? We're so sorry for being irresponsible assholes...we are doing our best to patch up the mammoth leak gushing tons of oil into our waters.  A feeble attempt at damage control if you ask me.  Thank God for organizations like First Aid Water.  The defenders of clean water.

First Aid Water Commission Complete

Q.  Who is First Aid Water?
A.  A grassroots organization started by ordinary people with an extraordinary desire for solving one of our greatest challenges:  providing clean, drinkable water to everyone with cost-effective bio-sand filters and simple education.  First Aid Water strives to revolutionize the speed at which families receive the clean water they so desperately need.

I met with the founders of this amazing organization and we inspired each other.  They asked me to create an image they could use online and on posters and postcards.  I still have one more version I'd like to paint.  The best of three...which will it be?
These guys are doing great things and I urge you to check them out.

Looking Up

Looking Up Acrylic, Pastel & Charcoal on the Washington Post by MG Stout

Today we had the ice cream social at the Workhouse and I was on the quad painting from my photos of the District.  Can you guess where I was when I took this picture?

Last Day of Session One Visual Explorers

The class is moving onto bigger and better things.
I was lucky enough to enjoy these emerging artists first thing in the morning.  We learned a lot and and had a great time.
We finished the final lesson with a fun game of Telephone.
I'm ready for session two!

...And Justice For All

Equal Justice Under Law, Acrylic Pastel & Charcoal on the Washington Post by MG Stout

I spent the evening of the fourth in our nation's capitol.  What a glorious night.  I set up shop right in front of the Supreme Court Building.  My assistant for the evening was Shellie Belly Vanover.  As per Shellie we will have the photos of the event posted just as soon as she gives me her camera card to upload  to my computer.  This officially takes me off the hook.  So you can all send her pokes on facebook to get her rear in gear.  I'm off to class.  Yes, I am working AGAIN today.  I'll tell you with all this working I should be a dull girl!

Just Say the Word... I Might Listen

Work in Progress Acrylic Pastel & Charcoal on the Washington Post
When the SEC came to the Workhouse they expressed interest in purchasing a few works for their collection.  They also mentioned that they would really like to see some images of the Supreme Court building... ta da! Their wish is my command.

Finding Time

Daylight Sleeping Time 12" x 22" Acrylic, Pastel & Charcoal
on the Washington Post by MG Stout

My production has slowed down dramatically as I am teaching full time.  I'm still trying to figure out when I am going to get into DC.  You see I would go after class, but my dogs need to go out.  They are in the house from 8:00 - 4:30/5:30 depending on traffic.  I imagine their bladders are just about ready to rain all over my dining room.  They are also very good about sharing their precious doggie diamonds with me.  Hmmmm... I'll be doing demos on the quad this Saturday so maybe I can sketch the District Sunday, July 4.  Let's see if I can convince my husband to brave the heat and crowds. I love to watch the fireworks with my family.  Keep your fingers crossed.
